FAQ
What is a hybrid homeschool program?
Our hybrid-homeschool program is a partnership between Spark Academy and homeschooling families. We provide curriculum, teaching, and guidance in the subjects of history, science, and social studies. Parents/Guardians provide curriculum in the areas of English language arts, math, and any other additional subjects they would like their child(ren) to study. Our guides are also available to answer questions and give help when needed in all subjects, whether provided by Spark Academy or by students’ families.
What is project-based learning (PBL)?
Project based learning is a method that provides an active exploration and discovery approach to learning. There is time and space provided for student-led curiosity, research, and learning in a particular subject. Guides (teachers) present the framework then help to facilitate and encourage students in their hand-on learning process and experience.
Who’s responsible for meeting state education and curriculum standards?
We partner with homeschooling families. Therefore, although we meet many state standards within the curriculum we provide in the subjects of history, science, and social studies, parents/guardians are ultimately responsible for their child(ren)’s state standard requirements being met. We are willing and able to provide information as to which state standards have been covered throughout the year via written request.
How independent is the independent learning portion of this program?
A child’s independence during this portion of the day (Conquer Time) is based on how well they can read and/or follow the directions provided in their curriculum. Our guides avail themselves to answer questions, read directions when necessary to our pre-readers, and assist students as needed. The goal for children to be as independent as is reasonable based on their individual abilities. We are happy to help them on their independent learning journey.
How much does it cost?
Tuition is $3,500 per student per year. A $200 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of enrollment or reenrollment.
How many classrooms are there?
There are three classrooms. One Kindergarten-2nd Grade, one 3rd-4th Grade, and one 5th-8th classroom.

What curriculum are parents required to supply?
Parents/guardians are required to supply math and English language arts curriculum for each of their children in attendance. Families may choose the curricula they prefer; or, we can provide a list of suggestions if help in this area is needed.
Do you provide field trips or outings?
Yes, we facilitate one Family Field Trip and one Park Day per month. These are usually held on a Thursday or a Friday. Participation is not a requirement. We go to places such as Southern Belle Farm, Tellus Science Museum, Atlanta Ballet, Legacy Theatre, Chamberlain’s Chocolate Factory, and so much more!
Where can I find current information about the program throughout the school year?
Once enrolled, families receive a newsletter with current information, dates of upcoming events, and classroom updates every month.
In addition, the director can be emailed at any time with any additional questions at sparkacademy@bethelatlanta.com.
Is my child required to be in attendance at Spark Academy for a specific number of days each year?
No, Spark Academy provides 98 of the 180 required days within the school year. If families would like to facilitate more than the remaining 82 days that fall to their responsibility, they are free to choose this option.
Are parent volunteer hours a requirement?
No, parent/guardian volunteering is not a requirement for student enrollment.
